Persistant Diarrhea & Vomiting
Patient: Alert 74 year old male
Complaint: Patient suffering from a sudden and persistent bout of violent vomiting and diarrhea. He had had it for 8 weeks. He had lost 15 kilograms in weight & was quite despondent about his future, as he had previously enjoyed very good health, except for low back pain occasionally.
Medical Diagnosis: Inconclusive. All medical tests were clear. Hospitalization with intravenous drips and codeine tablets were prescribed to prevent dehydration.
- After the first visit a follow up phone call next day revealed that diarrhea had ceased immediately following treatment.
- By the second visit one week later bowel control still normal. Hope and energy restored.
- Third visit two weeks later very few NIS protocols were found and the patient was very happy and “Very well”!
Interruption to small bowel function spells disaster for nutrient assimilation. Viral determination in this case prevented an enteric catastrophe.
